“‘A high school diploma for half of our students is a ticket into remedial programs,’ Nevada Deputy Superintendent of Education Steve Canavero said.
Canavero said that’s unacceptable.
‘We would never want to shut a door for a student to say ‘Hey, when you graduate from 12th Grade now you need to do something else before you can go into college,’ Canavero said.
Nevada System of Higher Education Chancellor Dan Klaich said students being college-ready isn’t just important for the kids, but the universities too.
